Researcher Elena Gonzalez-Blanco, and her project LyrAIcs, has been awarded Proof of Concept funding to explore the commercial or societal potential of her research results in Natural Language Processing. The grants are part of the EU’s research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020.

Proof of Concept (PoC) grants, worth €150,000 each, is top-up funding that can be used for example to explore business opportunities, prepare patent applications or verify the practical viability of scientific concepts.

With her LyrAIcs project -spin-off from her ERC Project POSTDATA– Elena González-Blanco will create an artificial intelligence and language technology based method to analyse song lyrics. The intention is to use the resultant metadata to enrich companies’ recommender systems.

Elena González-Blanco García’s previous ERC-funded project, POSTDATA, serves as a technical scaffold for this new departure. The larger project aims at bridging the digital gap between traditional cultural assets and the growing world of data.

Elena González-Blanco is an Associate Professor at the EI Business School in Spain and General Manager of Europe for CoverWallet.
