Elena Álvarez Mellado has received the XXII National Journalism Award Miguel Delibes, awarded by the Press Association of Valladolid, for her article Metaphors dangerous: cancer as a fight, published on eldiario.es. Linguist specialized in computational linguistics, she has worked for Fundación del Español Urgente (Fundéu) and Molino de Ideas. She is currently part of the POSTDATA research team at UNED, a European research project. She is the third woman to receive this award in its 22 years of existence.

 

The National Prize of Journalism Miguel Delibes, was created in 1996 by the Association of the Press of Valladolid with the aim to recognize works that defend the good use of the Spanish in mass media and emphasize by the protection and the survival of the Spanish language , which makes it unique in its thematic scope.
